“I have always felt that our teachers, coaches and instructors are the backbone of America and that they are severely underpaid. Our singular goal at Schedule Any Lesson is to help these fine people make more money and keep the money they do make.” – Cliff Gardner, CEO
Connecting teachers, coaches and instructors with people searching for private lessons. Our company was born out of the belief that there is a better way. Teachers and coaches shouldn’t have to give up a percentage of their lesson fees to get in front of new clients. Looking for private lessons and the right instructor shouldn’t come with a fee.
If you offer lessons, we sincerely hope you join the first wave of coaches and teachers that become the foundation of our national network and the leading source for private instruction.
More about Cliff Gardner
I am regularly asked “why launch another company after selling my last company to AutoNation?” The answer is simple. It is my turn to give back.
I have always felt that our teachers, coaches and instructors are the backbone of America and that they are severely underpaid. Our singular goal at Schedule Any Lesson is to help these fine people make more money and keep the money they do make.
Instructors give private instruction lessons to earn additional income or for the sheer joy of sharing knowledge or both.
We understand that selecting a private instructor is a very personal decision. Where this gets personal for me is that I cannot stand to watch online lesson companies take 20% or 30% or even 40% of the fees earned from these well intended Instructors.
Our dynamic new model provides Instructors with a complete Marketing and Technology and Business Development solution all in one so Instructors can focus on giving lessons and making money.
We are going to provide our Instructors with a customized, personalized website, host their site, provide a direct access personalized URL and prestigiously present our Instructors websites on our online Instructor directory. Lesson takers will be able to contact the Instructors of their choice directly. We are very deliberately getting out of the way economically and procedurally.
We will NEVER charge our online directory users and we will NEVER charge our Instructors any of their hard-earned fees. Our Instructors keep 100% of their earned fees. We only charge a minor technology hosting amount and our focus in on providing far more value than what we charge.
As for me, I have had a very blessed life. Professionally, I have done everything from job cost accounting for a billion dollars of commercial construction projects to 12 mergers and acquisitions to an IPO to being the CFO responsible for 50,000 open heart surgeries a year to being an MLB licensee to a NASCAR licensee to developing an online auto parts platform with 165,000,000 parts applications.
Personally, I have a lovely daughter Ali that just graduated from the University of Arkansas and is going to work for Google soon. I also have a wonderful son Grant that attends college and is a collegiate baseball pitcher. In the “just for fun” category I am a season ticket holder of the Chicago Cubs, Texas Rangers, San Diego Padres and Dallas Mavericks.
We have designed Schedule Any Lesson for lesson takers and lesson givers. We hope you enjoy your Schedule Any Lesson experience.
More about Grant Gardner
Hello everyone, my name is Grant Gardner, and I am the founder of Schedule Any Lesson. One of my personal goals for Schedule Any Lesson is to be the most personable company in America. Because of this, I wanted to take a moment to tell my personal story and the impact that it has had on the creation of Schedule Any Lesson.
I am currently going into my junior year of college and my third season as a collegiate pitcher, which has been the experience of a lifetime. The opportunity to continue playing baseball at the collegiate level has taught me essential skills such as time management, prioritization, sense of accomplishment, and has given me the determination to maximize my abilities. Because of the impact college baseball has had on me, I feel like it is my responsibility to share that with others and encourage them to pursue their interests and dreams.
Out of this desire to help others, Schedule Any Lesson was born. When I was nine years old, my dad decided it was time to find a pitching coach. That was when I met Doug, who made a profound difference in my life as an athlete and a person. He didn’t just teach pitching mechanics. He taught all aspects of the game, specifically mound presence, healthy off field habits, and mental toughness. Without these attributes, I wouldn’t have been able to compete in high level youth leagues or high school ball.
I was always a big kid, which for years allowed me to be one of the better players without putting in any extra work. However, that changed at the end of my sophomore year in high school. I finished the year with my fastball velocity at a mere 76 miles per hour, while other kids my age were throwing 90+ and receiving Division I scholarships. I knew my lack of work ethic and personal fitness were dramatically hurting my chances of playing college baseball, a dream of mine since I was nine. I began working out at a local training center called S2S Performance with a former Texas Tech quarterback, Matt Tittle. The combination of a personalized fitness plan, weights, resistance training, and mobility skyrocketed my velocity into the upper 80s and opened doors for me to play college baseball. Matt’s instruction has continued to guide me in my collegiate career, which has helped jump my velocity into the low 90s.
Without the help of genuine, hardworking people like Doug and Matt, I never would have fulfilled my dream of playing college baseball. Through private lessons with them, I obtained the competitive advantage necessary to stand out from the rest of high school baseball players and get the opportunity to play collegiately. Their passion for sharing their knowledge and experience in conjunction with pushing me beyond what I thought was possible truly changed my life. Now it’s my turn to help others do the same thing. Each individual’s dreams are different. Whether it’s to play college sports, improve their grades, work on personal fitness, or learn a new instrument or dance, everyone should have the chance to maximize their talents.
That is our goal here at Schedule Any Lesson. We want to be the best connection between qualified instructors and individuals with a desire to learn or improve their skills. This is why we have created a national online directory for lesson takers to find their perfect instructor to help them improve in Sports, Education, Personal Fitness, Music, or Dance. This platform is and always will be free to lesson takers. Our local coaches, teachers, trainers, and instructors are community heroes, but they don’t get the recognition or the earnings they deserve. We want to highlight their abilities and provide them an avenue to create their own business by sharing their knowledge through private lessons. We will NEVER take ANY percentage of instructor earnings. Our focus is on providing the most value at the most affordable price and supporting our community heroes who have sacrificed so much to help others. Our dream is to help others achieve their dreams.
More about Mark Tilson
My primary focus at Schedule Any Lesson is building relationships with leading organizations and businesses across the country that share common objectives with our company. The mission of these strategic relationships is to enhance the capabilities and resources of our private instructors while also connecting people with the best instruction possible. Through lessons and private instruction, people are achieving their goals and improving in the areas that are important to them.
I come to Schedule Any Lesson from the industry of professional sports and collegiate athletics where I spent over 20 years in the areas of sales, business development, corporate partnerships, consumer marketing and fan entertainment/engagement. When Cliff approached me about joining Schedule Any Lesson, it was important for me to look at the company from two different perspectives. First, I wanted to understand what other sites are out there for teachers, instructors and coaches and how Schedule Any Lesson is a better alternative for them as well as for the end users that are looking to book private lessons. The more I studied the marketplace, the more convinced I became that we offer the most dynamic platform to help instructors grow their business without unnecessary interference in how they communicate with customers, book lessons or handle payments. And, since we never take fees from the end user and promote direct communication with instructors, there’s no doubt we’re the most attractive option for people looking for private instruction. Looking from the perspective of an organization whose members or customers are coaches or teachers, Schedule Any Lesson is a resource that can genuinely help their customers. Based on this, it is incredibly motivating to be able to build relationships with companies and organizations that are founded on the shared objective of providing real value and helping people improve themselves.
A little about me: I grew up in the Los Angeles area. After graduating from Loyola High School (Go Cubs!), I headed East to Columbia University in New York City. During my time at Columbia I played basketball for two seasons and was a high jumper all four years, serving as the Track & Field Team Captain my senior season. After school, I returned to the West Coast and worked for a couple of start-up companies in San Diego before landing a job with the San Diego Padres Baseball Club. I spent 10 years with the Padres before leaving to become VP of Sales and Marketing for the Washington Nationals (2006-07) and then the Kansas City Royals (2007-09). My last front office position was Senior VP of the Miami Dolphins (2009-12). Perhaps the most unique and gratifying thing about my time in sports was the opportunity to be involved in the opening of PETCO Park in San Diego and Nationals Park in Washington DC, along with the $250 million renovation of Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City. Prior to joining Schedule Any Lesson, I spent the last five years with JMI Sports working with some of the country’s top collegiate athletics departments. For the past two years, I oversaw the company’s relationship with ASU, where we led efforts to establish corporate partnerships on behalf of the university.
My wife, Brooke, and I have two children. Our daughter, Dylan, is currently a high school freshman and our son, Wyatt, is a fourth grader. We are based in Scottsdale, AZ but most of our family on both sides are in California. We try to get back to the beach (and cooler weather!) as much as possible.
